We built MyMarketing Toolbox for hands-on business owners who want to understand their marketing, run it with confidence, and still have a life outside the business.

Before Toolbox, we spent years supporting small and medium businesses as MyMarketer, our “done-for-you” marketing business. We handled all the marketing ‘stuff’ for our clients – planning, campaigns, websites, and all the moving parts. With over 25 years of combined experience, we’ve come to know small business marketing inside out.

But, while we were busy taking care of our clients, we kept meeting another kind of business owner: smart, capable, brilliant at their trade… but feeling stuck with marketing.

Some were starting from scratch. Some had tried using agencies and ended up paying thousands each month while still thinking, “Where’s the money actually going? The ads don’t feel quite right. And, where are all the leads?”.

They wanted to feel in control and understand where to start when it came to marketing their business themselves – not to throw their hard-earned cash at another “marketing expert” who talked in circles. 

So we started coaching owners one-on-one – translating marketing jargon into plain language, and giving them a clear path to follow that helped them kick goals.

That’s where MyMarketing Toolbox came from: our templates, our processes, and our real-world experience – turned into short lessons and practical tools that build on each other, making marketing feel easy for any business owner.

We’re Nadia and Paul, marketers by trade, and small business owners ourselves.

We’ve worked across big brands, multiple countries, and a range of industries. But, we also live the small business reality just like you do: limited time, limited headspace, multiple priorities, and constantly chasing the things that actually make a difference in our business.

We built Toolbox because we wanted marketing knowledge to feel accessible and achievable for small business owners everywhere – especially those who want to take control themselves.

Nadia is the kind of coach small business owners relax around – because she’s seen the big end of marketing and she knows how to bring it back down to earth. She’s a senior strategist with 25+ years of commercial marketing experience across New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the US, including time in marketing and leadership teams for global brands like adidas, L’Oréal, Bendon, Hallmark and Macpac. 

In 2021, Nadia shifted from corporate roles into advisory work, bringing that “big brand” thinking into the real world of small business. She’s spent years adapting traditional marketing strategy to make sense in businesses where time and resources are tight, budgets matter, and every team member is part of the marketing effort. 

Nadia believes that marketing is “really just common sense”, and that anyone can create great marketing with the right guidance. Her sweet spot is making the complex feel simple and doable. She helps owners get clear on what to focus on, build plans they can stick to, and feel confident making smart calls about their marketing no matter what their trade.

Paul Wilkes

Co-founder + Creative Guru

Paul Wilkes brings a founder’s perspective to coaching – the kind that comes from building, fixing, and growing a business in the real world, not just talking about it. 

He’s an experienced entrepreneur and marketing leader, and has been the Founder of MyMarketer since 2008, working hands-on with small and medium businesses for nearly 20 years – so he genuinely understands the time pressure, the budget decisions, and the “where do we even start?” moments that owners face. 

Early in his career, Paul worked in big advertising agency environments (including Saatchi & Saatchi), which is where his creative approach was shaped – he’s great at turning a fuzzy business problem into a clear story and a strong message. He’s also passionate about AI and web development and loves demystifying it for small business owners, so they can make smart calls about technology without feeling out of their depth. 

Together, Paul’s mix of founder experience, creative thinking, and practical know-how makes helps owners feel confident about what to do next, and why it matters.
